Recent Legislation on Kidnapping

The Imo State House of assembly has come up (in her recent delibrations) with a resolution to apply the knee jerky approach on Kidnapping in Imo state. Although this resolution is waiting for final signing into law of the state, I urge the members of Imo House of Assembly to make use of research findings on an issue such as this, and dig out how societies have tackled them in the past, (on a national and global scale) in other to solve this problem once and for all.In my own humble opinion, a death sentence on a convicted kidnapper may exerbate the whole issue, and this is a source of worry to every right thinking Imo citizens.Proper education and cleansing of a stinky and shameful political culture will be an enduring approach on a long run.

What do you think?

I really do think that life imprisonment should do it. Death by all standards is too harsh a remedy, and would eventually force a kidnapper to pull a trigger...afterall he was going to die when caught. But let us not decieve ourselves that these guys would come to a round table for discussions abt their seemingly lucrative trade. Hard legislature like a Lifer is a strong enough statement, methinks.

DEATH SENTENCE appears terrifying but not obviously the solution.job creation may do the magic..
