Iwakwa of Ihitte Afor Ukwu – Every 3 years
Inunkwu of Oparanadim
Iriji Mbaise (New yam festival) – August 15th every year
Iwa –Akwa performed by Okponkume community
Ituaka of Ahiara Ofiri
Most of these festivals take place within the last quarter of every year.

Iwa Akwa festival – celebrated every three years by all the communities.
Mbomuzo festival- (community sanitation & cleanliness)
Ntumamka festival – (emphasizes ancestral lineage)
Egbenkwu festival – September
Okonko Masquerade
Igbu - Ewu Ukwu festival (glorifies fertility in the female folk)

NWANGELE LGA
Okorosha dance – Amigbo community – December
Owu festival – Isu and Abajah communities – December
Ekpukele – during the new yam festival
Nta Cultural festival – last week of August – New cropping season.

Itu  Aka festival – Nguru Uboma Awaise
Bia were Oji and Riforo festival – Uvuru and Lorji Communities
Oruru- Ukwu festival – Enyiogugu
Traditional Dance – Abigbo, Abigolo, Egwu Aldinma,
Agbachaa – Ekurunwa.
Ewu –Ukwu- (unanimously celebrated by all the communities) women that has up to 10 children in her husband’s place.

EZINIHITTE MBAISE LGA
Oji Ezinihitte festival 1st January
Iriji festival ( New Yam festival) August 15th unanimously celebrated by all the communities.

New Yam festival – by all the communities in Isu

Wrestling Cultural festival– Dec. after farming season.

IKEDURU LGA
Iriji festival – (new yam festival) unanimously celebrated by the 24 autonomous communities.

IDEATO SOUTH LGA
New Yam festival – between August and early September yearly.

OWERRI NORTH LGA
Onwu Oru –performed annually by Uratta
Ugu – Uzo  - performed by Emekuku
The Onwu Awaka – performed by Awaka
Mkpukpuzo and Ita Okazi – performed by Emii
NOTE: the festivals are between October and January every year.

ORU WEST LGA
The Ikwe –Ezi - performed by Mgbidi community
Owu festival – performed around April and July.
Masquerade festival – performed around October and December
New Yam festival – performed between August and October.

ORU EAST LGA
Umuimo Dance group – performed by Omuma community
Odogwu Ozara Dance Group performed by Awo Omamma community

Okorosha festival (new year festival) – performed August and September by, Agwa, Awa Izombe, Akabo and Ejemekuru

OHAJI/EGBEMA LGA
Igaji Egbema (new yam festival) – performed by, Egbema, Obosima, Obogwe, Amafor and Ohuobaa communities
Ihe Udummiri festival (to thank God for rains) – performed between June/July by Umuapu, Mgbirichi and Umuokanne communities. 

ORLU  LGA

New yam festival – performed during August.

MBAITOLI  LGA
Ekeleke Dancing Group – performed by Umuomezume kindred Ofekata  Orodo on every Eke day starting from April to first week of June.
Okorosha festival – performed by Ifakala, Mbieri and Ubomiri communities in the months of December and January.
Owu festival – performed by Orodo, Ifakala and Afara Communities respectively within the months of July and August.

OKIGWE LGA
Nri –  the Ugwuele stone culture
Iri ji, Itu Aka, Ajala, Ikummanu, Okpakala, Iwufu ji and Ikeji – to seek God’s blessings or thank him for his providence, protection and sustenance of life during planting and harvesting period celebratd in most communities of the Council.

IHITTE / UBOMA  LGA
Mbom Uzo - usually begins in September
Iri ji – from July to August

Ahia Nga – Nga (for women)
