Kidnapping: Ohakim challenges Imo Youths
Speaking at Orsu Local government Area, during the burial of Noble Hilary Akaolisa, the governor said that it is absurd and shameful that rather than protect their parents, youths are kidnapping the aged in the society in the quest for quick wealth, which he said is a bad norm in Igbo land.
He said that the state has spent millions of naira in protecting property and lives in Imo State, adding that it is now left for the populace to cooperate, by informing the police about the bad elements among the Imo populace.
Governor Ohakim who said that in every society there must be all shades of characters, warned kidnappers to stay away from the state, adding that any one caught committing any crime in the state would face the wrath of the law.
He maintained that the youths in Imo State are always remembered in the scheme of things by his administration, urging them to shun crime and engage in meaningful ventures that would contribute to the Economy of the state.
The governor hinted that his administration is bent on improving the lots of Imo youths, urging them to apply for jobs in the on-going employment exercise going on in the state.
“We are going to create 10 thousand jobs and Imo youths should avail themselves of this opportunity by applying for employment. The interview would be free and fair, as what matters is your performance and qualification, and not who you know”, the Governor said.
