His Excellency,Owelle Rochas Okorocha
Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has described his recent victory at the Appeal Court, Abuja as a manifestation God’s will. The court sitting in Abuja on Friday 6th January 2012 had upheld the election of Owelle Rochas Okorocha as the governor of Imo State and had ordered the plaintiff (People’s Democratic Party) to pay a fine of 50,000 naira.

Briefing Journalists shortly after his arrival at Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, Governor Okorocha stated that the Judgment has convinced the people of the State that true democracy has come to stay in Nigeria, adding that the victory has marked the end to an era of bad leadership in Imo State. Said he, “It is a sign that Imo State has been liberated from control by evil men…” He however warned the unpatriotic elements in the State to turn a new leaf as the days of imposition of leaders on the masses are over.

Speaking further, Governor Rochas Okorocha explained that it is not common to win an incumbent in any election because of the political power attached to their offices, but stressed that his victory was designed by God and accomplished by the people to enable his Rescue Mission government to bring better and sustainable dividend of democracy to the people of the State. He however warned against any further distraction that may cause unrest in the State and urged the people to celebrate their victory peacefully.

Reacting to the removal of petroleum subsidy by the Federal government, Governor Rochas Okorocha explained that the action would help to establish more refineries in the country and urged the people of the nation to see the challenge as a sacrifice every Nigerian needs to make in order to secure the future. He disclosed plans by the State Executive Council to introduce mass transit buses whose services will be rendered at a reduced cost so as to alleviate the suffering of the masses.

He reiterated the need for hard work so as to meet up with certain objectives of the government through commercialization of government ministries, parastatals and agencies.
